The Ninh Binh trip was very nice. We traveled by a limousine van from Hanoi, by foot, in a boat and on a bicycle. 3 main visiting sites during a day and at each stage we had enough time. Lunch was very good, with some interesting local dishes. Our guide was very enthusiastic, funny, engaging and attentive. One day is not enough but timing is also good. . I had a wonderful time with Vivu Halong on their ninh binh tour. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and the scenery was breathtaking. We visited Tam Coc, where we took a boat ride along the river and saw the limestone karsts and caves. Then we went to Thung Nham, a bird sanctuary with thousands of birds and a peaceful atmosphere. It was a perfect day trip from Hanoi and I highly recommend Vivu Halong for anyone who wants to experience the beauty of ninh binh.

Questions before you go
How far is Ninh Binh from Hanoi?
Ninh Binh is about 100 km south of Hanoi. The drive usually takes around 2 hours, depending on traffic.
Should I choose Trang An or Tam Coc?
Both are rowing-boat trips through limestone mountains. Trang An is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site and its route passes through several caves and temples. Tam Coc is a shorter ride through three caves and rice fields. If you only have one day, our combined tours include one of each area.
When is the best time to visit?
Late May to early June is famous for golden rice fields in Tam Coc. March to April and September to November bring mild weather. Summer is hot with some rain, and winter (December to February) is cool and often misty.

What should I bring?
Comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen and water. The climb to the Mua Cave viewpoint has around 500 stone steps, so take it at your own pace.
