The architectural style of Chau Son Monastery is predominantly Gothic, featuring impressive dimensions of 64 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 21 meters in height. The east-facing orientation of the building holds deep religious significance, symbolizing the direction from which Christ, the “Morning Star,” appears to visit and redeem his people.

Interior Design & Symbolism

Throughout the monastery’s 64-meter length, carefully designed columns rise like symmetrical towers, creating a rhythmic visual pattern that draws the eye heavenward. The walls feature a harmonious arrangement of windows split between two levels, with wooden glass windows on the inside and intricate “pierced carvings” on the outside depicting saints and scenes of Jesus carrying the cross.
